According to the March '00 issue of the Dutch magazine 'Profile' (published
by the Audi importer here), it was March 13th, 1985. The pilot's name was
Scott Gordon, the guy who did the 'sunroof surgery' was called Joe Lippo,
aeroplane mechanic. It happened in St. Augustine, wherever that may be.
Speed was reported to be 140 km/h. Profile reports in error that the car
was an Audi 80. I agree with Chris that it's a type 43 5000.
I've got the footage on tape, too- it was used in the intro sequence of a
'spectacular rescues' show, featuring exclusively US footage. Hadn't
noticed the absence of a licence plate yet, I guess it's a re-enactment.
