Back in the mid-1980s I was involved with Recaro's adaptation of its
IT systems to meet the demands of VW's 'just in time' inventory
management systems. At that time, Recaro supplied the vast majority
if not all of the seats used in all VWs, Audis, and many other German
cars. The 'own brand' operation was a tiny fraction of their output.
Things may have changed, but I doubt it. Recaro may have been lower
profile than Bosch, but their stuff went into just as many cars.
Ur-quattro seats are Recaro - anyone who has stripped the seatback
covers should have seen the stickers.
