Hi Folks,

Sadly, I was one of the casualties of this storm. Actually it was last saturday
but the icy conditions were already here.

I oversteered badly accelerating just after taking a "T" and THEN, the tires
gripped on a patch of dry pavement... Car jumped forward and landed in the 6
foot deep ditch, at a 45 degree angle, therefore turning the mighty '93 90q in a
mighty accordion...

Nobody was hurt as I was not going fast but my ego is even more damaged than the
car.

As I was not insured for this kind of stuff, it will cost me a nice and round
5000$ CAN to get this fixed in time for my trip (next week!) to Arizona -- with
the car.

While the engine itself is not damaged (except T-belt cover - 78$ at dealer),
the expensive mounts were, as the bumper parts, rad, front frame member and
right fender as well as a headlight. I'll try to post pictures somewhere as a
warning.

We have great cars -- but we are not invincible in them. These great traction
characteristics also have a downside: faster speed attained even under slippery
conditions and over-confidence from the driver.

So now, on top of having to shell out all this unbudgeted money, I have to get
around - in storms - with a dorf Topaz. Boy this is hard.
