clutch pedal odd behavior

My clutch pedal did the same thing a month or so ago.  After the car 
sat for a couple of hours, leaving a small puddle of fluid, it 
mysteriously started working again.  I believe that the clutch hose 
was beginning to fail internally, as it seeped a little at the slave 
cylinder end.  So, it may be the hose collapsing internally, which 
would prevent the fluid from flowing back to the master cylinder.  I 
haven't replaced my hose yet, but it's been cold outside, and the 
problem occurred after a long drive.  So, I'd say check your clutch 
hose, as well as the fluid level in the reservoir.
