Brian -

You are way off target.

If you haven't had a V8 and don't have any personal experience
with one you ought to keep your advice to yourself.

The V8 powered cars have had most of the same mechanical and electronic
systems as the rest of the Audi's we know so well. The V8's actually
were the models where Audi actually fixed or redesigned some of the
things that get discussed every so often on this list.

The newer Audis are much more trouble free than a mid 80's 5kCSTQ
for example.

Actually it MAY be better advice for someone that isnt a car nut like the
rest of us to buy the newer A6. The V8 maybe an outstanding car, but any
car that is older has problems that develop with time and finding a mechanic
for that car is difficult and it can be expensive to maintain if your not
doing the work yourself and using the list to that end. I haven't owned a
V8 myself, however I wouldnt hesitate to steer someone either towards one or
away from them depending on what I thought they could do mechanically or
would want to spend in maintenance costs.
