I had this same dilemma when I installed Boge Turbo-gas shocks on my 87
5KCSTq. Boge only makes a heavy duty for the rear, not a turbo-gas
application. But, they do for the 200. I drilled out the upper mount in
the rear (10mm to 12mm, I think), and used a few bushings to shim up the
space at the top of the shock. I then had a pair of spacers machined for
the bottom of the spring perch on each shock. (The 200 apps have the perch
a little lower than the 5000's - about 3cm maybe?). I wrote it all up in
the archives somewhere. Been on there over three years, and I really like
it (Turbo-gas all around). I would do a search for "how to 5000 boge turbo
gas rear" or something like that. The Audifans page is down right now.
Email if you need more info - I still have the original design at home.
What shox told me a few days ago was that it was
dependent upon if you have the 10 or 12mm thread on
your rear struts. I honestly have no idea which I
have. In any case, there's a sport application for
one, but not for the other (can't remember). If you
look closely at the application chart online it eludes
to this in a somewhat confusing fashion.
This was for my '89 200, I'm ass-uming your '87 5ktq would be the same.
