yes, that's correct. Some of them have quite a few terminals on them
though... Like the now infamous Kostal Connector T14B

Well I'm not sure what good listing them all off to you would be... suffice
to say that on the ECU harness you'll use every connector (assuming you keep
all the underhood "optionals" like the carbon canister solenoid, decell
valve, etc) including T14B.. the work comes in re-working the other side of
the connector to T14B.. to make it go to the appropriate locations on the
4kq.

It really isn't that bad. see
http://www.mswanson.com/~nstuart/4ktq/kostal.htm . Nate put that page
together which details basically what you need to do with the pins on T14B.
The connectors under the hood should go to the same sensors/devices that
came off the 5kt. BTW, the harness will fit through the firewall where the
4kq harness was before.

yup on these two

Nah, don't need it. The only reason you would keep it would be if you
wanted to use the temp gauge part of the sender. Mine was busted (surprise
surprise) so I decided to cut off the connector for the multi-function and
reconnect the 2 wires that connected to the temp gauge pins to a stock 4kq
sender (this requires a small adapter since the threads are different in the
MC head coolant flange).
There are many others too of course such as the temp sensors on the head and
coolant flange, coil/ignition booster, o2 sensor, etc. Just plug em' in.
Some of these sensors will be connected to the drivers side harness. You
have four options:
1)leave the harness mostly complete (creating a real mess under your dash)
and just plug in the wires that you need.
2)Hack apart the drivers side harness and pull out only the wires that you
need (this is what I with the help of Huw Powell did)
3)Make up a harness completely from scratch. Really.. now that I think
about it this probably might have taken less time. There is only a few
relays.. Fuel pump, ISV, etc... Plus the later 4kq's have an afterrun
circuit built in which means you don't need a separate relay to turn the
radiator fan on and off only for a specified amount of time after shutdown..
you just have to modify it to drive the blower fan and afterrun pump when
necessary based on the temp senders.
4)Ignore the afterrun equipment. It's an option.. I'd advise against it but
you can probably get away with it.

Don't worry too much about the ECU harness... that's the easy part! That
part is your reward for figuring out the mess under the dash. The fun comes
with the drivers side harness which controls the afterun stuff.
