ABS off '93 100CS Quattro

Since a dead battery and a jump start the ABS doesn't work and the warning light is on.
This should be simple if the Bentley had anything on this system. I have checked the Bentley and there isn't much on this version of ABS as far as troubleshooting. I did notice in the later models with OBD it stated that a dead battery would create a fault in memory but the '93 ABS is not OBDable. I have checked, and found them ok, all applicable fuses. I tested the 2 relays at the ABS hydro unit. They seem to be fine except I can't figure how term L1, which causes the warning light, is supposed to lose ground. Should this relay connect when the ignition is on and therefore shut the light off? Or do these relays only work when ABS is needed? So I need to find out why this relay is not powering up? Also checked the #4 combi relay and it seems ok and does power through when the key is switched on. The CD player also quit working but I did win on this one. Help is very appreciated.
Best regards,
Tim Leonard
