5 cylinders had the 4x100 too. The change was made when they
made the brakes larger. You cannot fit the earlier stock 13"
wheels over the later 4x108 brakes, even if you could get the lug
bolt holes to line up. It's one of those engineered foolproof
measures, like the flywheel only bolting on in the correct
orientation (on some cars?).
AFAIK, in the U.S., the changeover began in '85 for the 4kq and
Coupe GT. I know almost nothing about the 4 cylinder cars. If I'm
wrong or incomplete, Ti Kan would know I'm sure.
