The ecostud is pretty quiet for a studded tire. But not quiet by any means. 
I like the compromise with the ecostud vs. normal studs (traction vs. 
noise). If I ran ice every day I'd go for a normal stud, but since I run ice 
for about 1/2 of the winter the ecostud works fine.
