'80's audi door handle question

I've been replacing door handles on Audis since I was driving examples
under 6 years old.  My first, an '80 5ks, came pre-equipped with a
busted drivers door handle.  In fact, *all* my trigger happy Audis have
consumed them about every 60k or so.  My 11 year old, 212k odo 90Q only
exhibited the broken lock lever for which an upgraded part is available.
