HID for H4's, or H1/H4's

I realize that HID headlights are designed for HID bulbs, and one
cannot simply put an HID setup (bulb and supporting hardware) into
their non-HID headlights and expect to have a safe, effective, and
courteous lighting solution.

That said, consumers want what they want, and many of them
don't care if it makes sense or is optimal. So, companies like APC
who make trendy things like indiglo gauges for jap imports and
"butterfly knife" car key blanks, offer "drop-in" HID headlight kits to
convert conventional 9004 (or whatever) headlights. These are
apparently real HID kits that cost around $1.5k or so, with
transformers (or whatever they need) and all.

But anyway, I was wondering, "if" they offered a setup for H4
headlights, how improper the headlight housings would be for the
HID bulbs. If it wasn't too bad, I would love to have a set of H1/H4
eurolites with HID bulbs and supporting hardware.

There's probably no way to find out, while sitting here at the
computer, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone had any input.

Maybe H1/H4 eurolites are good enough. But HID is kewl.

I have read Daniel Stern's opinion about why HID's are bad. I do
tend to believe it as well.

Does anyone know of any HID resources? I have an idea for a
product that I have no idea where to start.

For three times the price of euros (including the euros themselves),
I think the money could be better spent. But, it is more realistic
than dreaming of a biturbo S8, or cheap and new Treser parts.

I'll be unsubbing sometime soon for the holidays, see y'all on the
other side. Either tonite or tomorrow. Have a good one!

Thanks,

Ken
