advice requested, re: long trip in an Audi (or nrutaS)

Should I take my '88 5kcstq on a 400 mile each way trip for the
holidays, or take my Saturn?

My 5kcstq could use some new struts, and the steering wheel has
a little shake to it at certain times. I don't know that it's an
alignment issue, or maybe the wheel is just bouncing. I don't think
it's bouncing.

My issue is the potential reliability of the Audi for this trip,
compared to my Saturn. I have no reservations about the reliability
of the Saturn for this trip, but the Audi will be more of a pleasure to
drive.

I'm considering getting an alignment today with the existing struts.
$50. By the way, the dealer quoted me $270! for an alignment.
The alignment shop I'll be using is a pretty good one. Used to be
owned by Discount Tire/America's Tire Store (for Californians).

I'm sitting here trying to decide. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I have AAA, and a cellphone. Also, I will be buying a 5kta on this
trip, so I could take the Saturn out, and drive the other Audi for
pleasure. Alternatively, I can take the Audi out, and if it breaks
down while I'm out there, I have the other Audi to try to make it
back in. I was planning on bringing the new Audi home on a
different trip.

Thanks for any input. I do this to myself every time.

Later,

Ken
