Off Boost Misfire SOLVED

Thanks for the information.  Your comments reminded me that the same thing 
happened on the first 87 5K I had about 7 years ago.  The car is long gone 
but I spent weeks trying to find a similar problem and finally took it to an 
ex Audi mechanic who had just started his own shop.  Together we worked on it 
for 6 hours before we found the problem.  It was the best $250 I ever spent 
though, as the car ran well after that (at least for a month or so).
