Doyt,
If you want to get artistic, how about this- get an extra set of
washer nozzles, the kind that are on the hood of the car. Cut out
a large enough hole out of the top of the bumper on both sides in
front of the headlight and mount the washers there, kind of like the
new pop-up washers on the A4/6/8. Of course, you will have to test
the spray pattern of the washers before doing this. Then, get a
washer pump and bottle from an Audi 100/200 and the mounting bracket.
This should fit, as it works vice-versa on the 200- I could fit a 5k
washer system in the 200 if I wanted. Then use the feed from the new
washer bottle to run the headlamp washers. If you really wanted to get
fancy, you could even wire into the Autocheck system somehow so you
could get the low washer fluid warning.

If that's too complex, maybe tap a second line from the existing
washer system, along with an additional pump, if necessary?

I would try to figure out a way to key the headlamp washers with headlamp
use, if you want it to work the best way. Of course, if you had a whole
separate system for the headlamps, you could just add a switch to actuate
the washers rather than using the stock washer stalk control.

I'd be game in looking into the feasibility of this system- if it could
be made to work well, I would experiment with a prototype on the 5k and
do a nice polished install on the 200.

The other, more expensive solution would be to obtain the european headlamp
washer system from a parts place that has access to european parts. That
would be nice. I'd also like the intensive wash system while I'm at it-
the E39 M5 has this as a one-touch button- very nice if you're in bad
weather.

If the Audi parts don't work, maybe you could look for a place that has
Volvo salvage parts. The 850/S70/V70 series cars have headlamp washers and
wipers, and the headlights are slightly smaller than our cars. Maybe these
could be made to work on our Audis and maybe for less money than the factory
euro parts.
