>RULE CHANGES
>
>There are only a few rule changes for 2001. THe most significant include:
>
>
>(1) AVERAGE SPEEDS - In order to make the events a more serious driving
>challenge, organizers will be permitted to require average speeds up to
>100% of the posted limit in speed zones where the posted limit is up to and
>including 70 kmh and up to 95% of the posted limit in speed zones of 80 kmh
>and above. These raised average speed limits will apply only between the
>hours of 11:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. and only in sparsely populated areas.
>
>
>(2) REFLECTIVE TRIANGLES - Each vehicle must carry in the passenger
>compartment at least one full-sized (minimum 40 cm/16 inch) reflective
>triangle i.e. no mini triangles and no non-reflective triangles.
>
>(3) TIME PENALTIES - Late penalties will be scored the same as in 2000 i.e.
>one point penalty per full minute late and one tenth point penalty per
>tenth of a minute late, however EARLY penalties will be scored TWO points
>penalty per full minute early and TWO TENTHS of a point penalty per tenth
>of a minute early. This should reduce problems in local public relations
>caused by competitors driving unecessarily quickly and should reduce the
>number of competitors leaving controls early.
>
>(4) AWARDS - YOKOHAMA trophies will be presented to first, second and
>THIRD in each class this year in each event and for the Series.
