The 16V was in the Golf MK3? Not here. The A3 Golf GTI's had the
VR6's in them when they came out, but otherwise were just 2.0 8V's until
that time. Our Passats didn't have 150hp! I wish! I think that the
restrictions on our Passats suffocated them quite a bit. Out Corrado's only
came out later then Europe when the G60's were made available, we never got
the 16V Corrado. That would have been cool to work on and simpler for the
backyard tuners. I still find myself explaining the strange setup of the
VR6 to experienced mechanics. Simple minds don't seem to be able to grasp
how it could work and accuse me of not knowing what I'm talking about.

I've heard of people importing the Rallye golf but I've never seen
one. We never got any of the AWD VW's on the smaller frames, and the
Quantum is rare in any of the setups that it came in. Again, I've never
seen the Syncro Passats but have heard of them in their rarity.
