that is an issue. in linux, you can run a 1280x1024 desktop on even a 
800x600 screen, but you don't see the whole screen at once. you need to 
move the mouse to view the rest. But this won't help, since etk doesn't run 
on linux, unless someone found that version.

in windows, i don't think there's any way around it. My old 15" monitor can 
do it [15"monitors are <$100 now].  But the vid card has to be able to do 
it as well, which usually is only found on 8MB+ vid cards. You should be 
able to get one for under $25. check www.pricewatch.com for prices. This is 
all if you're running a decent machine. Forget using a 486 [most don't even 
have pci slots for vid cards]....
