Someone once pitted a tuned Viper against a world-land-speed-vehicle.

The viper charged ahead off the line; the rocket car went out of sight.

Slowly, and increasing at a steady speed, the jet car caught up to 
and then dusted(must have been about 40+mph differential) the 
viper...and it just kept pulling away...and away...and away...
