weird coolant light problem (5ktqw)

While preparing our 5ktqw for the upcoming Quattro Club event at Portland
International Raceway, I hosed off some of the grime that was building up
in the engine compartment.
Got in and drove about a mile and the red triangle with the thermometer and
water warning signal starts blinking in the display. I pulled over
immediately and shut the ignition off. The coolant level was fine and the
temperature gage showed the water temp. as fairly low.
Drove the 25+ miles home without any problems except that stupid signal
blinking at me.
Which sensor(s) controls that light? Could water be shorting across the
connectors and giving a false low coolant signal?
Any help is appreciated. Please reply to me directly as I subscribe to the
digest, but typically have no time to read it.
TIA.
Best Regards,
John Karasaki
