Hand-brake problems

Today I had my 87 5kcstq rear calipers apart and discovered that one of
them was binding up internally, and the spring was not able to return the
emergency brake cable back to its "OFF" position. The cable is free, but
the caliper has developed some problems, so I have a rebuilt caliper on
order and will install it tomorrow. As an aside, I'll mention that
somewhere on this list maybe last year I read about people putting stronger
return springs on their calipers....I think they were droF springs.

Your problems may not be totally in the emergency brake cable. And you may
not be able to free up anything......then again it may be the cable. You
hafta get out and get under and take it apart and wiggle some things.
