Type 44 heater cores

Not to sound like a broken record but...if the heater core in your type
44 is pushing 5+ years, you might want to consider doing an R&R,
especially if you have one of the el cheapo cores like the PO of my car
did.
This morning, I joined the ranks of those that have a puddle of coolant
in both footwells - the pink stuff really messes up grey (quartz)
carpet.
BTW, if it does happen to you a zillion miles from nowhere, a temporary
fix is to remove and graft the heater core hose between the heater valve
and the return pipe - you're gonna' replace the heater core hoses
anyway, right. You'll need a screwdriver for hose clamps and a box
cutter to section off the heater hose. Just make sure you *don't* cut
off the metal hose end of the hose as it's formed to fit the metal pipe
(larger diameter than the rest of the hose); cut the hose off from
heater core side.
