trying to chase down a cold start problem...the car has always taken 1-3
seconds of cranking to get started. I have accepted this as normal... Now in
the last week the cranking time till tickover has increased to 5-8
seconds...and that is sporadic at best. Starting when warm has been and
still is as it should be. Idle settles to a smooth 870-900+ rpm's...for both
warm and cold starts. There is a slight spike in rpms at tickover but it
quickly settles to idle as descibed...the car has somewhat new(last 6
months)... all 5 fuel injectors, replaced differential pressure regulator,
fuel filter(2 weeks ago) air filter...last given a complete tune up, minus
plug wires, just over a year ago...spark plug wires are estimated 4+ years
old and fuel pump noise is barely audible...have to really listen for
it...pulled spark plugs and they are in great condition. I have also pulled
the input fault codes and am getting 4444...so all clear. Have not checked
the output fault codes(cold start valve...etc) due to the lack of a
mutimeter. Wondering if it could be a battery problem compounded by the
cooler weather? Battery age is unknown(Interstate) I am going to check the
battery's condition and connections to see if they are as they should
be...am I on the right track or am I overlooking something? Thanks in
advance for your help,
