Repainting Rims?

When I had my Borbet rims powder coated, they heated them in a curing oven,
then blew the peeling paint off with an air gun. I think they used about
400 or 500 F in the oven, well within a household oven’s capability. I’ve
wondered if that would work with projects like yours. I don’t think the
heat would be a problem for the aluminum. The only problem with the powder
coated rims was they still chipped, and would have been very difficult to
refinish. I did touch them up a couple times.

How does one go about cleaning up ratty rims? I got a set of nice BBS
14" for my winter rims, but no matter how much scrubbing I do they just
won't come fully clean. There are some spots where the paint is gone, but
not too bad. Just the old dust and grime refuses to come out, plus spoked
rims are tough to clean, those little nooks are a PITA to get into. Don't
people bead blast them and then repaint?

Thanks,
