... that is because the impeller is magnetically coupled to the pump and the
impeller is jammed ... one of many failure mechanisms for this flaky part.
The other major one is that the plastic gets brittle and breaks, and I've
even had one leak where the two halves of the pump body were joined. On the
list of parts you should not get from a wrecker this would be one of them I
would put near the top of the list. I've seen the one aftermarket racing
replacement ... manufacturer name escapes me now ... IMO it is a bit
difficult to work into the car without making it look like it was hacked in.
There was a report that the 944T had a similar pump which had a metal pump
body ... that is the route I plan to take when I need a replacement ... I
believe an archive search may even give a part number ...
