Brendan,
You may want to refer to the writeup on my site of my work in progress -
Project GTQ: http://www.homestead.com/Ben_Swann/myaudi.html It is very
similar to what you want to undertake. The cost right now is somewhere
aroune $1500 - I can provide you with a spreadsheet of the details if you
like. This is for me doing most/all of the work myself.
I am dealing with the head removal on out, as the engine really did not
require rebuilding, esp. the bottom end. Bottom end work would probably
double the cost.
The project has not gone far lately, but the groundwork for the project has
been laid out - parts, tools, etc.
Now all I need is the time.
Regards,
Ben Swann

Subject: 4kq 2.3 engine rebuild....
Going to be abandoning the trusty 2.2l inline 5 that came with my
4kq (JT code) and upgrading to a sweet 2.3 NF out of a 90. But first, I
have to get the thing rebuilt....I'm going to need opinions on what needs
to be done, what I should look out for, any caveats I may encounter, what
wiring issues I may run into...
Thanks go out to Chris Semple for providing the engine at a very low cost
to me...coughcough www.Force5Auto.com coughcough and to Huw and Nate,
because hopefully, they're going to help me put the engine in...
Now, I'll have a 2 3 4 5....
