cutting up xenons?

There are really only 2 types of Xenon (more precisely, Metal-halide, but
anyway) bulbs used in cars today. One is a D2R, one is D2S. The D2S is the
brighter of the 2, producing 3200 lumens, and is designed to work in a
projector beam housing only. The D2R is slightly less bright, producing
2800 lumens, and is designed to work in standard reflector type headlamps.
(BTW, a normal H4 55 watt bulb makes 1000 lumens)

This is why the Lexus and Acura HID's don't seem as 'white' and 'bright' as
the Audi, Mercedes SL, or Porsche 911 HID's, as they use the less powerful
bulb. However, if you don't have projector beams, you MUST use the D2R, as
its light dispersion pattern is designed for direct-view (reflector)
housings.

If someone can figure out what bulb it is, there MAYBE a chance the bulbs
can be ordered from the source. I work in a hospital repairing medical
equipment and we have xenon light sources and can order replacement bulbs.
