Tom,

Great page. I wish I'd consulted it before upgrading the headlamps in my
1994 90CS quattro. I would have gone with the S2 lights instead of the
Euro lights.

For others doing the conversion, my solution for the turn signal/markers
was to use some flush mount motorcycle turn signals:

(I used the clear) mounted in the lower bumper trim just outside of the
fog lamps. The only cutting required was one 1.5 inch (or so) hole for
each lamp. This I did easily and cleanly in the plastic with a hand
brace and an expandable bit. The center screw of the bit located the
hole and the outer tang cut the plastic very neatly and cleanly. Not
quite as nice looking as the Euro bumper, but a lot less expensive.

Also, I used the wiring harness from BLAUfergnugen. I noticed that once
I had everything installed, once I switched on the high beams I couldn't
switch them off. Some investigation showed that when the highs were
switched off, there was still 4 Volts or so on the high beam lead to the
stock lights. Apparently this wasn't enough to trigger the high beam
relay in the new wiring harness, but was enough to hold it once it had
been triggered. By adding a load (in this case I wired the outer marker
lights on the new Euro's directly into the stock high beam circuit), the
voltage dropped enough to allow the relay to switch off when the high
beams were switched off. The thing I really don't care for now is that
those are controlled by the high beam switch. (Not a biggie)

Question: I assume this voltage is due to some bulb monitoring function
of the Lamp Control Module? BLUAf normally sends a modified bulb
control monitor as part of the harness kit (According to the salesman
the reason for this is that in some Audis the wiring harness caused the
bulb-out warning light to light)). In my case it is still
back-ordered. Does anyone know if the modified bulb monitor removes
what I believe is the bulb test voltage from the stock high beam
circuit?
