5KTQ gas cap question

this is interesting...I don't really know what's going on, but I know it 
happens on all the cars I've driven...the newest of which is a '92 Chevy, 
so it's definitely not an Audi issue. I once heard it was a problem w/ the 
charcoal canister being filled w/ gooey fuel-oil-water-charcoal crap. I 
don't doubt that there is crap in there, but I'm not positive if the 
canisters are really the problem...Does this sort of thing happen to new cars?
