She ran great all the way to Salt Lake City, where I
had to call it quits at 2:30 am. Thanks to everyone for
the support and suggestions. For everyone who were
justifiably concerned about me sleeping in an idling
car, I wasn't really considering it. The exhaust on
this thing is well perforated and would make it coffin
for anyone sleeping in it while running.
The moon was mostly full last night, which made the
4K DOT headlights not too bad to endure (although I
still ran high beams all the way--no complaints from
other drivers). A pair of brand new H1/H4 euros are
nestled in the trunk waiting to be mounted when I get
home. The moonlit mountainous landscape was ghostly.
I'm disappointed that I didn't get to stop at the
Bonneville salt flats, but a top speed run wouldn't be
prudent right now anyway.
I stopped in a small town in N Nevada for a quick bite.
As I sat munching my burrito (much better than human
flesh), a group of teenagers left the building. One
young gent immediately yelled, "That's the car I want!
All right!" As he hopped about flailing his arms, his
friends acted too cool for his nonsense and kept
walking. He looked back at me and we exchanged a
knowing glance and the hi-sign. There's hope for some
of these kids, yet!
The car reluctantly fired this morning on the first
try. After a shower, I'm on the road for CO. For the
folks interested in getting together, I'll be headed
for Ed Kellock's place in CO Springs (I can't turn
down a free bed).
Stay tuned folks, and thanks again for all the support.
