While you'd be in a better position to judge the car's condition, the answer
should be "no problems at all, enjoy the trip!" Our '93 100CSQ just turned
150k and we're preparing for a trip from the Bay Area to Portland, Oregon
this Friday. The last time we made the same trip, we put on close to 2000
miles by the time we returned. We *did* prepare for that trip by putting in
a sump full of fresh oil and new rear brake pads (the old ones were just
down to the backing plates). Other than that, this was far and away the
best cross-country car trip we've ever made -- comfortable, fast and a sheer
delight in every way.
I'm going to try to get new oil in again before Friday's departure time, as
it's about oil-changing time anyway, and we just put on new tires because
two of the old ones were down to the wear bars and the others were close,
but other than that we'll clean it up, pack it full of clothes and maps and
road food, and head for the Pacific Northwest.
In fact -- if anyone on this list has NOT used an Audi for a long-distance
cruise, you're missing out one one of the car's best features. Especially
if the route in question includes some mountain roads, curves, and sections
a little more interesting than arrow-straight interstates.
I wouldn't hesitate to get into either of my Audis and drive across North
America tomorrow -- though if we were going anyplace with snow, I'd prefer
to take the 100CSQ to the '83 CGT, for obvious reasons.
