This is correct. The locks worked this way even in the 5k's. Make good
sense to me, and let's you decide whether you want the trunk locked or
unlocked with the doors open. Just a little quirk to get used to.

Subject: Solved: Trunk lock/release on 93 100CSQ?

I drove home, got the key from my wife, and opened the trunk.

I'll check the manual to see whether it's the expected behavior, but it
appears that if you lock the trunk with the key, then lock the car from the
driver's door, the trunk stays locked even after you subsequently unlock the
car from the driver's door. I haven't yet tried the case with trunk
unlocked/car locked from door to see if the trunk opens when I unlock the
car from the driver's door. I'm just satisfied that we'll be able to put
our gear in the trunk before the trip, and then take it out again when we
arrive.
