Is there any list wisdom (or ignorance) on the pros & or cons of an
Aluminum vs. Copper core radiator? A brief short list of the points I've
come across to consider (but have no idea as to the relative merits of):
- Weight - a copper/brass assembly size for size will be @ 2x heavier;
- Copper is said to be a 2x to 3x more effective conductor of heat;
- Durability - aluminum may resist corrosion a bit better;
Any other pros or cons?
Anyone got a list of rules of thumb for thermal conversions for translating
the "stock" UrS4's 24 & 7/8ths x 16 & 1/4tr x 1 & 3/8ths inches
(this equates to a radiator surface face area of aabout 455 square inches,
and volume
of @ 618 cubic inches)
intended and designed by Audi's engineers, so far as I can tell, to
adequately serve the needs of a 2.226cc engine making 227 bhp in stock form
& @ 248 ft lbs of torque; and which appears to be currently serving an
engine making (a guess) at least 300 bhp+ (a lot of "+" IMO), with
modifications, to BTUs or HP in aluminum or copper?
