Ryan,
   If you are so skeptical , don't contribute.  It looks to me like
someone is doing something good for someone on the group.  When I
smashed up the front of my Subaru in an offroading event, people on the
Subaru group got some money together and it helped me out quite a bit. 
I even got a few parts from Subaru Of America for free. I agree that it
would be nice to send the donations to Todd directly.  In a world of
dishonesty, it is hard to see through all the fog.
