'86 CGT no start (update)

Thanks to all who replied. After dinner I pulled out the Bosch 3 electrode
spark plugs (maybe had 8k or so on them), and swapped them with the nearly
new single electrode Bosch Platinums that the car came with when I bought
it. The plugs I pulled were a bit sooty and smelled of gas, but did not look
to be in too bad of shape. I also pulled off the cap, and cleaned up the
contacts on both the rotor and cap. I also had a new set of Bosch plug wires
lying around that I was going to install anyway, so I installed them also.
Hooked up the CGT to our old Plymouth Voyager for an added "electron boost,"
and after a few cranks, fired right up. But now there is a new problem. At
idle, the car runs nicely. But when I hit the gas and hold the pedal steady,
the idle jumps around between 1-3k rpms (kinda like a cycling). If I pull
the electrical connector to the ISV and then hit the gas, no cycling occurs
and it runs fine. I did clean up this particular ISV this afternoon while I
was troubleshooting the no-start condition, so I swapped it for another used
one I had on the shelf. Car still does the same thing when the ISV is
plugged in, and is OK when disconnected. Before today, the ISV had no effect
whatsoever if its plug was connected or not. For now, I just left the plug
disconnected, but any ideas what is going on now? TIA.
