King Edward I - 1290 made all Jews wear a yellow badge sewn on their clothes
then confiscated all their funds and expelled them all from England, killing
rather a lot in the process. (Sounds familiar?) 'Holocaust' was used in
contemporary accounts. Large number were either killed or committed suicide
in Clifford's Tower in the centre of York and were buried outside the city
where a road called 'Jewbury' now runs.
