I was the one who overheard the TT comment about my UrQ. The couple had
only heard about the new Audi coupe and mine was the only Audi coupe
they'd seen, so they assumed it was the TT. The UrQ styling may be dated
to car guys, but to the general public it's not. Just shows what a great
design it and the Coupe GT were... and I consider the Coupe GT styling
to be even less dated!
As far as women and cars... there are female enthusiasts out there. If
you pick one, life will be _much_ better as you will share common
interests, etc. Most other women could care less and will be a constant
thorn in your side.
My rule of thumb: not only should a woman be able to drive a standard
shift car, if she actually _prefers_ to, you have a potential enthusiast
there. Don't let her get away!
I have 15 cars. My friends say "Doesn't your wife get tired of all
this?" I usually respond that my _first_ wife did.
My current (and last, I hope) doesn't quite get the Audi thing. She much
prefers her SAAB 900T ("slightly modified" to 2.0 bar) and her TR6.
These are the types of differences I can handle. Her first time on a
track with her SAAB last summer: "Wow, this is cool! You should buy a
track car for us both to use... I'd like to go faster but don't want to
break my car!"
What a woman! And her 11-yr-old daughter begs to go with me to shows
and to the track. She has quite a knowledge base already, has a go-cart
which she drives with wild abandon, desires a dirt bike (Mom says NO!)
and currently wants a Morris Minor Convertible... or a SAAB Sonett...
for her 16th birthday. She'll make some car guy very happy in a few
years!
