Dennis, to add to what has been contributed already.
I have done some theoretical research on adhesives recently.
The optimal angle for delaminating an adhesive film is 90 degrees.
This is optimal for rate of delamination and for preserving the
integrity of the adhesive layer (ie not tearing in patches and
remaining on the underlying substrate (ie glass).

Pulling up very slowly is worth the extra time to prevent the
adhesive layer from being ripped apart.
Warming the film should help with keeping the adhesive on the film
and off the glass.

Good luck,
Scott
