Sohaib,
I had a 924, in high school and college, a '79 Petrol Blue w/ brown
herringbone cloth/tan leatherette and I absolutely miss that car like there's
nothing else. When I sold it it had 178k and two burnt valves. I still
loved it. I sold it back then (93, when I bought the cq) for $2500 and
regret that day to this one.(not buying the cq, just selling the P)
Electrical gremlins manifest themselves in mysterious ways in those
cars...check all the gadgets, double check all the gadgets, look up under the
dash for hack wiring jobs, i had to rewire my whole instrument cluster b/c
some idiot (we won't say who, ok, it was my neighbor/best friend) installed
an aftermarket stereo and tapped into the dash light circuit, subsequently
frying the whole thing.
Other than that, my car went thru 2 water pumps, the car had no thermostat in
it when I bought it and I didn't realize it till i went to change it 3 years
later.
They use oil, so make it a habit to check every 2nd fill-up.
good luck.
ps, the engine is not an Audi Fox engine, I thought that too for the longest
time. The tranny however is an Audi variant, as are most all the other bits.
The block is some variant of a VW truck engine. John Larson on the 20v list
may be able to help shed some light on this.
