Amber sidemarkers on Eurolights...???

I cut off the spacing/re-inforcing on a spare set of amber side markers as 
I would much prefer to have functional lights on the side of the car (and 
not having a euro bumper to go with my lights).

I hear the amber lights are prone to departure at speed, and I was planning 
on using a little strip of metal to prevent that, but after roughly placing 
them where I think they should be, the amber lights seem to stick out too 
far.  Note also that I was planning on moving the lightbulb mount to the 
"back" of the housing as there isn't enough room to leave it in the stock 
location Dad has access to plastic welding equipment).

Has anybody reasonably successfully mounted the amber sidemarkers to euro 
lights?  Any pic's of the finished result?
