dump valve story

Have had a dump valve installed since this summer in my 5ktq. I made a
special pipe adapter that allows me to both connect a dump valve and get
rid of the MM hose. Instead I am using two pieces of silicone hose. One
from the IC to the adapter and one from the adapter to the TB. The
adapter has a 7/8" pipe coming off of it where the BOSCH BOV is fits
on. All summer I ran this set up, but wondered why I never got any cool
pops or wooshes. It turns out that I had the vacuum line connected to a
false vacuum at the back of the IM. Last weekend I t'd the line into one
of the vacuum line coming off the tree. The dump valve worked great,
except that when the car was off boost the valve was open to atmosphere
and the BOV was suck unmetered air into the engine. Essentially I had
created a massive vaccuum leak that kept my car from idling and reduced my
throttle to an on/off switch.

Last night I disconnected it. Driving in traffic was like driving a 4cyl
motor with the wackiest cam possible and huge weber side
drafts. Off....ON! Anyway I will keep working on it. I am hesisitant to
plumb the BOV into the cold side of the turbo because I am worried that
the BOV will slam the fuel plate shut everytime it is actuated. MAybe
this would not happen though because the turbo is still spinning and
essential sucking that bypassed air right up.
