'93 100 a/t & diff questions

While working on other matters on my car this
afternoon, I noticed two unusual items on the ZF "CDT"
automatic transmission in this car.

Drain Plugs!!!  One on the a/t pan and one on the
diff.  Both appear to be on the low point on their
individual apparatus.

Now I don't usually get excited about such things, but
after the bad run of luck on a/t units in my '86 5kt,
little things can get one excited.

Anyone use these items for effective PM???  Anyone
know where the fill point is on the diff case? 
Suggested lubricants (Please no "Red Line"
testimonials...I think that their product hastened the
demise of my last diff on the '86).

I don't trust Audi's attitude on these items...I
recall reading that diffs are "maintenance free"
according to the '86 manual.  Ha Ha.
