Hi-
Maybe ignorance is bliss, but the 96 A4Q auto is the best automatic I
have ever driven. It seems to have two "programs", an easy mode and a
performance based on your current driving. The shift points are decent
in both of them. A nice feature is that if you've been driving with a
lot of wide-open-throttle, it'll delay shifting to the lower gears,
keeping the revs up, which is great for back roads and on-ramps/merges.
Of course, this is all subjective and my autotrans experience has been
with Detroit's only.
On the other hand, I've never driven one of the tiptronic ones (and
maybe I shouldn't!!) How is the tiptronic different?
