Interesting oil article (NAC)

Just finished reading a series of articles in "Motorcycle Consumer News" about different
motor oils.  The articles appeared in the August, October, and November 2000 issues.

Some interesting stuff about additives, corrosion protection, and evaporation and
viscosity loss.  Also speaks a bit about coming changes from the API (American Petroleum
Inst.) regarding motor oil formulations and the reduction of phosphorus.  I learned
that phosphorus is typically added as an anti-wear compound, but is facing a phase-out
due to the fact that it can cause damage to the catalytic converter. (If you live
in the US, this will affect you).  Mobil 1 and Redline both performed well, surprise!
