V8 Wheels -- gold package, bent up, heavy

I've heard lots of people say that BBS are quite soft.
I never thought Borbets were that heavy- they're reasonable in
weight. Ronals are pretty heavy. The stock S4 2.7T's wheels are
in the 28lb. range each. That's heavy. The Oettingers on our A4
are in the 22 lb. range in a slightly larger 17x8 size. Borbets
are in a similar weight range as the Oettingers- at least for
the Type E and Type T.
People seem to bend hims constantly. There's one guy on Audiworld
who must have destroyed something close to $10k worth of wheels.
The only thing I can conclude is that the guy does not pay attention
to the road and hits a lot of potholes.
I thought wheels like Fikse, Kinesis and HRE are the best, but my
mechanic says they're not that strong either- but they're very light.
He favors stuff that works for a long time, so stupidly light wheels
that require replacement every year or more often are out for him, as
well as me. As I said before, I like the OEM Speedlines. I don't think
the A6 4.2 pie-plates or the polished flared 5-spoke wheels are all
that heavy.
