we're just faking it better than you that's all.

The turbocharger is a little turbine wheel driven by your hot exhaust
gases as they exit the engine.  In turn it pressurizes the intake air on
its way in to the engine making more power (by cramming more air into
it).  I useta have one of your cars.   They're quite sublime overall.

your car does not have an intercooler so don't bother to check it.  (the
intercooler cools the pressurized intake air from the turbo, which also
heats it up due to compresssion and just plain old transferred exhaust
heat)
