On the Type 44, there are two rubber drain hoses in the bottom of what
Audi calls the 'water box' - between the firewall and the bottom of the
windscreen. IMO they're best attacked from underneath - in the
straight ahead position, both either touch or come very close to the
front tie rods. They're sometimes pushed up into themselves by
mechanics working on the rack and then forgotten. They tend to block
with leaves - you can clear them from below using the classic coat
hanger-derived tool.
My interpretation of the 4kq diagrams (I've never seen an Audi 80 with
a/c in the UK) is that the drain valve empties through the firewall
into the engine bay. Someone with a BTDT would be a lot more useful
to you, though.
