Eurolights - 100Q

Benjamin,
My Bosch lights exhibit the same "dim" symptoms, must be a characteristic of
the lights. So are the Hellas BTW (I have both). When I turn on my Cibie
driving or fogs the Euros look barely on!
I even use 80-100Watt Hella bulbs!
Take care,
Avi

Subject: RE: Eurolights - 100Q
I checked the lights and wiring out last night again.
The bulbs are Phillips 12V60/55W H4.
I re-aimed the lights. A little better. They still seem dim, although, I
must admit, the illumination is sufficient. They seem more yellowish than
white.
The wiring is correct, there may be a slight(35 mv) drain through an extra
ground I have running from the auxiliary light hookup, but connected or
disconnected, they appear the same. The ground is just a closer return to
ground, rather than running back through the wiring harness, it go to
chassis ground. I am running the aux. lights similar to the 5000 setup, to
turn on with the marker lights - it adds some low level lighting, useful
when pulling in a dark garage.
With 10 Guage feeding the relay terminal 30 and 12 Guage wire terminal 87 on
all four relays, there is adequate voltage and ampacity(actually, this
wiring is a massive overkill). To double check, if I switch circuits - high
beam switch triggering low beam, and low beam triggering high, there is no
difference in illumination.
I think this is just the output of the bulb, and maybe to get a brighter low
beam, I need the 55/100 bulb. But isn't the higher number for the high
beam?
I compared this with my '87 5KTQW Stock lighting. The low beam on the 5KTQW
appears brighter, but the throw is not as far out. The Eurolight low beam
seem more yellow, that may be partially due to the side marker light
intensity - very bright.
I unfortunately don't know of any other Eurolights around that I can compare
to.
<What wattage are the bulbs ? 55/60 or 55/100 etc. Sounds like a wiring
fault, the low beams should be superb as well, make DOT look like candles.>
<<They are white (maybe a tad yellow). You can look at them and not be
blinded. The illumination provided would be considered 'barely adequate'.>>
<<Again tho, the high beams are outstanding.>>
<<<Depends what you mean by dim exactly.
1. Orange or dull yellow = low voltage (misswire?)
2. White light but not blinding when you look at them. This is what euro's
are all about. The light is directed so well that you should not be blinded
by them above the cut off but below the light is concentrated right where
you want it, on the road in front of you.>>>
