Before you get too involved...................
Change the memory with another known good one, I had the same problem and
that is how I fixed it.  I also made the same change of seats you did
without a hitch.
Try the above first!

I recently installed  Seats from a '90 200 Q into the '87 5000TQW.

I had to change the power connector,  that works fine.  Except for the power
connector which used 2 - 10 Guage into 1 - 8 guage for both positive+ and
Ground-, instead of the 4 -12gu into 2 - 10 gu into 1 8 guage in the '87,
all other conectors plugged in one for one.

After I got them installed, I have not been able to save/use the seat
position memory feature.  All adjuster work fine.  Just can't store the
position setting for recall.

The heaters workd fine, and the position servo's operate as expected.  I am
just missing the memory portion.

Any ideas?  Is the memory controller different in these seats, or do I just
have a bad unit that I can swap out from the original seats.
