George,
I just did the belt on my 95 A6 this past weekend.
I used parts from The Parts Connection and rented
the special tools from Blau.
When price shopping before I did the project I sent
emails to Rod (TPC) and the folks at Blau. Rod got
back to me with pricing, availability and part numbers
in a matter of MINUTES! I'm still waiting for a
response from the folks at Blau - I ended up calling
them on the phone to rent the tools.
I've only ordered from Rod three times. But he is
fast, courteous and accurate. I'm actually looking
forward to doing business with him again.
I don't fault Blau for their service either. Once
I called them the tools were sent promptly and
actually arrived a day earlier than they said they
would. The tools were indespensible for changing
the timing belt - I owe them thanks for
providing the rental service.
BTW, I did check with the dealer for parts. He was
so expensive it wasn't even worth considering.
